Museum “Insel Hombroich”
Art and nature unite in perfect harmony in a private museum set in 20 hectares of park and meadowland created by the landscape planner Bernhard Korte.
In this idyllic scenery, the artist Erwin Heerich placed 11 pavillons – each a piece of art in itself – to house other artistic works. The artists Anatol Herzfeld, master pupil of Joseph Beuys, and Gotthard Graubner work on this so-called island.
The collection includes Persian sculptures, Khmer art and Chinese figures dating back to the Han period placed side by side with the works of Gotthard Graubner and Jean Fautrier. The broad range of exhibits includes such famous names as Arp, Brancusi, Calder, Chillida, Klimt, Matisse and Schwitters.
